Youth Employment Program

The Summer Youth Employment Program is a six-week work program that provides youth ages 14–24 with first-time work experience and hands-on learning opportunities. DYS partners with a variety of local businesses, city departments and community non-profits to offer diverse experiences for participants which include childcare, clerical work, retail and environmental activities. SYEP offers work readiness and life skills to 50 - 70 youth through paid job positions and weekly workshops. The application portal typically opens in March. Interviews begin in April by appointment only, and if accepted into the program work begins in July and ends in August. Some youth participate year-round and work for their designated employer throughout the school year.
